Gaivotas Gulls
No nosso concelho de
Oeiras, as gaivotas são os animais que existem em maior quantidade. Elas vivem em grupo
junto à costa marítima, onde as podemos ver durante todo o ano. |
There are several species of gulls such as the brown gull, the clark-wing gull, the large gull and the tridactyl gull. Gulls belong to the BIRD category. Body coating The gulls body is covered by feathers, which are waterproof and airtight. Locomotion Gulls move through the air. For flying purposes they are aided by their wings. They also possess the keel and light, hollow bones. Reproduction Gulls reproduce themselves through eggs. They are oviparous animals. Once the female has laid the eggs, the young start to develop with the help of substances contained within the egg. The incubation period lasts between 22 and 30 days (depending on the species). Nourishment The different gull species dont share a specific type of nutrition. However, most species strongly enjoy fish, which explains why gulls are commonly seen near fishing boats. |
