It took three weeks to get the water and damp out of the schoolso the children three weeks more for their summer holidays. There was 300 people in school in the fisrt days of school. But at one time there was 4000 children in schools and 60 teachers. There was about about ten classes before and they won medals and trophies.

Dominican Campus

In 1953 three nuns came to Ballyfermot. They were sent by the Archbishop to build a school. The three nuns worked very hard while building the schools. First they built St Michaels then St Gabriels. Really St Raphaels. Young children went to St Gabriels. the older children went to St Raphaels. Young boys went to St Michaels. When they turned ten they went to the De La Salle. The schools got lots of children coming to them. The schools were so full that 300 children made the communion and confession one year. All the nuns were very happy. But then an awful accident happened. They whole school was flooded. It took the nuns three weeks to clean it up. But their happy mood was not damaged. In 1963 the nuns built a secondary school. At first it was small but they soon built lots more classrooms. Now it is 2000 and only one thing has changed. They are all separate schools. It is known as the Domincan Campus. My Mum went to school here and I am following in her footsteps.
