The workhouse was built in the 16th century at Elmore Green. It became the workhouse 1752. It was used for the poor people to live in and it held up to 70 people. People who died in the workhouse were buried at All Saints Parish Church, which is just up the road. The workhouse closed in 1838 when the workhouse in Walsall was built. Part of the building was demolished in the 1880’s and a police station built there instead. |

The rest of the buildings were demolished
in 1937.The police station was still being used until very recently, but it
